Two reasons for this:
- more fine-grained space/functionality tradeoff
- preparation for the sage 8.6 update, which finally doesn't need a
downgraded gap anymore but does break when unexpected (non-standard)
packages are installed. Details: https://trac.sagemath.org/ticket/26983
The proper way to deal with gap packages would be to create a package
set, package each one individually and have something like gap
equivalent of `python.withPackages`. I am not willing to do that
however.
There are some starts of a `make install`, but nothing complete yet.
Upstream now ships a `libgap` as a replacement of the custom one used by
sagemath.
This reverts commit 4900bbee17.
The issue that was supposed to fix is now fixed by lazy-loading rpy2 and
makign sure scipy is loaded before that.
That is not quite as nice, but preloading is now causing its own issues
with openblas 0.3.4:
https://github.com/xianyi/OpenBLAS/issues/1936
Moving the desktop configuration files from
opt/scilab-$ver/share/applications to share/applications, making the
required changes, and moving the icons in opt/scilab-$ver/share/icons to
share/icons. Moving locales, appdata and mime out of there
opt/scilab-${ver} too. Also removing unneeded scilab-${ver} and
scilab-${majorVer} symlinks from bin/.
We need to set dontUseImakeConfigure in a few places to prevent imake
from overriding the default configure phase. This packages all have a
configure script that needs to get run:
- Xaw3d
- R
- tkgate
- ssvnc
This is a minimal change mainly to make sure repology recognizes this
package as sage. I plan a bit more refactoring later, but this is
intentionally kept minimally invasive so that it won't break anything
and can be backported to 18.09.
The test is depending on the "py2" tag always being added. I patched
that recently to make it possible to test sagedoc individually. Somehow
I missed this doctest.
Those were removed because they were added to openblas itself. There was
an error with that however and it will take some time until the fix
makes its way through staging. For the time being, reverting this part
of 26d5d030fe will fix the sage build.
This commit should be reverted once
408eacbc89 is in master.
- mxnet now builds the open source MKL DNN library. However, this
was not included with the build.
- mxnet builds its own OpenMP library, even when OpenMP is provided
by the system. This leads to problems, so remove the included
OpenMP implementation:
https://github.com/apache/incubator-mxnet/pull/12160
Sage assumes that pari does not use threads. However instead of
disabling them at compile time, we can diable them at runtime instead.
As a result, sage doesn't need its own version of pari anymore. That
means less rebuilds, less complexity and easier debugging.
ntl hasn't been updated in a while. So I'm doing that and adding myself
as the maintainer. I'm also adding some options and pinning the sage
dependency, since it is unfortunately not compatible with the latest ntl
yet.
I've also enabled the tests, since they don't take terribly long and are
worth the time in my opinion.
Removes the version pinning for arb and pynac by backporting the
upstream (sage) package upgrades. This necessitates a new patch for arb,
which was however already proposed and accepted upstream.
* treewide: http -> https sources
This updates the source urls of all top-level packages from http to
https where possible.
* buildtorrent: fix url and tab -> spaces
After #28029 it is necessary to add "strictoverflow" to the disabled
hardening flags. That probably has something to do with the `-O3` option
in palps makefile.
This commit also adds a test to check for this regression (as it only
occured at runtime).
Bumped to the latest version available.
Also tested the `web.archive.org` backup to avoid broken downloads when
the tarball is removed from the official download mirror.

Fixes#40558
Unfortunately, the new version fails its test suite AGAIN when the recommended
packages are not build. Makes one wonder whether maybe we should offer the R
developers CI builds that check this. I've reported the issue upstream, let's
see what happens.
The `geogebra` package is subject to break as upstream removes versioned
packages from their download server when five new releases are comming.
This is why I had to fix almost monthly the package by bumping the
version (these can be found by running `git log --online | grep
geogebra:`). As the package didn't cause any issues for several months
now I guess that using `archive.org` seems to be a suitable solution for
now.

openblas is used since it's propagated from OpenCV and ATLAS compiled without
architecture-specific optimizations is generally slower than OpenBLAS as I
heard.
This makes the HTML-docs an default-off option. Inline documentation
(`matrix-plot??`) is still available and HTML docs are available online.
Motivation: Get below the Hydra output size limit.
The build was failing on some machines because of a `find` command that
touched files in different orders on different machines.
That confused `make`s timestamp mechanism.
The sandboxed build was failing, because it relied heavily on
/usr/bin/env. This is fixed with a lot of shebang patching (both
to system packages and to sage-internal packages).
For now English (default) and Japanese editions only.
Fill out information in `l10ns.nix` to add the other localized editions.
Example usage: `mathematica.override { lang = "ja"; }` derives Japanese edition.
This "un-breaks" sage while also updating it to 8.0.
It compiles sage with its dependencies as one big pile, which is not
the best approach but definately better than nothing for now.
To be able to shrink the huge output pile a little, it also splits
docs from the rest of the output.
